Day for Daniel - Keep Kids Safe
Once again Riverside ESC will join with other school communities across Australia to participate in the Day for Daniel event. The day is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives - this is the intergral message of one of our learning priority areas referred to as Protective Behaviours.
The day encapsulates the primary focus of our priority learing area and aims to help empower our children to Recognise, React and Report if they feel something is not right.
Students and staff are encouraged to 'Wear Red and Educate' - the theme of Day for Daniel 2015. In-class programs in the morning will remind students of the importance of speaking up and appropriate behaviours, followed in the afternoon by a red feast - red foods such as tomatoes, red apples, strawberries and more. As the Day for Daniel website states "We strive to have schools, kindergartens, businesses and communities across Australia take action and conduct child safety activities in their local communities to help in Keeping Kids Safe."
Although the official day is October 30, due to a conflict in the school calendar we will celebrate Day for Daniel on Friday Oct 23.
